Public Pool Water Quality
Monitoring Initiative
A comprehensive consulting engagement to modernize public aquatic facility monitoring through real-time IoT sensing, automated compliance, and legislative advocacy.
The Challenge
Public pools across the state rely on manual water quality testing β typically twice daily. Between tests, chemical levels can drift dangerously, exposing swimmers to recreational water illnesses (RWIs).
Current regulations lack requirements for real-time monitoring, automated alerting, or standardized digital reporting. Many facilities still use paper logs.
Underserved communities are disproportionately affected β their facilities often have the fewest resources for testing and maintenance.
Our Approach
Phase 1 (Complete): Comprehensive state-wide assessment of public aquatic facilities, testing protocols, and regulatory gaps.
Phase 2 (Active): Parallel tracks β legislative framework development and technical proof-of-concept with 5 pilot facilities.
Phase 3 (Planned): State-wide rollout framework with funding mechanisms, operator training, and long-term sustainability model.
